Envato With Record Three Finalists In Women Leading Tech Awards
"Our participation is recognition that we’re on the right path."

Envato has seen a record three finalists recognized in the 2023 Women Leading Tech awards.
Presented by Atlassian, the annual awards were created to support gender parity and representation across the tech industry.
Mario Visic, who conceived and now manages the landmark Developer Apprentice Program was nominated in the Champion of Change category, open to senior leaders who have taken action to drive widespread workforce chance. “Running the apprentice program is my dream job, combining my love for technology, teaching, and empowering women in technology,” he said on the day of the nomination. “I had some amazing interactions with teachers who changed the course of my life, and Im honored that I am in a position to help others in the same way.”.
Michelle Drake was nominated for Sustainability Crusader for her passionate work on supporting Envato’s sustainability initiatives. “Envato has been on quite a journey when it comes to its sustainability initiatives, even just over the last 12 months,” she remarked. “From bee hive sponsorship to going carbon neutral, to revamping our office suppliers to meet our goals and still ensuring we continually meet our B Corp status being a force for good…there’s a lot that happens each and every day we try and think about our impact on the planet and how we can be a positive and not a negative.”
“We’ve got an amazing sustainability collective called The Greener Good for Envatains by Envatians, and it is so empowering to lead this group, and it really makes a difference.”
Envato was also nominated for the Advocacy category in recognition of its work to get more women into tech. It was previously shortlisted for this award in 2021.
The winners were announced in Sydney on Friday night, and while Envato’s nominees ultimately missed out on winning their respective award categories, Envato CEO Hichame Assi said the business was still very happy to be shortlisted. “We’re incredibly proud of the work Mario and Michelle do, as well as their respective teams, to help advocate and celebrate women in tech.”
