Envato Studio and Twenty20 will both officially close by the end of August.
As some of you may have read at the start of last month, Envato announced a refresh of its product and business strategy. We acknowledged that thanks to our international creative community, we have been able to deliver on our purpose for 16 years; empowering creatives to thrive independently and as a community, and in the process, providing genuine opportunities for our creatives to create, earn and grow.
But we also indicated that changes needed to be made to ensure our business could continue to meet this promise to the community to respond to the rapid evolution of the digital creative sectors and the challenges that come from new competitors, technologies and approaches. We knew that to keep delivering on our purpose, Envato would need to be more focused and deliberate than at any time in its history.
Part of that focus is what products we offer and how we support those, and today we announce that we’ve taken the difficult decision to close our freelancer marketplace Envato Studio, and our authentic stock photo marketplace Twenty20. Both products will officially be sunset by the end of August.
Launched in 2014, Envato Studio has hosted hundreds of digital experts and creative providers offering in excess of 3000 different creative services. The Envato Studio community has delivered more than 230,000 unique jobs from logo design to website installations, app development, content marketing and more.
While Twenty20 is a relative newcomer to our Envato community since its acquisition in 2019, it has played an important part in helping us to update and evolve our approach to stock photography. With a commitment to providing authentic images, its library of more than 57 million photos has been accessed and downloaded millions of times. We’re proud of Twenty20’s role in helping so many photographers learn and hone their craft. For many, it was the first step into the industry while for others, it was a way to do what they loved and interact with other like-minded photographers. Its impact has spanned the globe, with photographers submitting their creations from every country on the planet.
We want to say a massive thank you to the creatives and customers on both platforms who’ve added so much to our community over the years. Thank you for your pursuit of excellence, relentless work ethic, and commitment to our purpose – your impact has been a positive one! While we’re saying goodbye to these products, we look forward to working with our creatives across our other products in the future – from Elements to Placeit and wherever your creative journey may take you!
