Over a decade after Envato started as the brainchild of three young entrepreneurs in a Sydney garage, 2018 was a year of more growth, more new launches and quite a few milestones. Here are the highlights.
Envato Elements launched in 2016 with a bold vision: allow subscribers to download as many digital assets as they want, for one fair monthly fixed price. We knew we were onto something when subscription numbers moved from 0 to 10,000 within the first month, but during November when we hit 100,000 subscribers, we realised that Envato Elements has become an indispensable tool for a discerning creative community. If you’re not yet a member, sign up today and let the downloading begin.
Also this year, Envato Market sold its 50 millionth item. With over 10 million registered users buying everything from WordPress themes to 3D models, Envato Market is still going strong over a decade after it was first launched as a small marketplace for Adobe Flash player items. Check out the many great items we offer by visiting Envato Market.
There’s nothing we love more than knowing that our community of content creators are well taken care of. That is why we’re proud to say that we have paid more than $700m to our talent so far, with tens of thousands of authors actively earning every single month, a number of which are even earning 100% of a livable wage in their country as a result of selling on Envato. If you want to join our community of outstanding creatives, get started here.
Over on WordPress, our awesome Template Kits plugin has been a mega hit with users, with over 10,000 active installations in just the first four months. If you’re looking for a fast and easy way to access multiple website templates and combine their best features to create one amazing website, you’ve got to check out this plugin.
Not to name drop or anything, but some of the biggest companies in the world—Volkswagen, Walmart, Amazon, AT&T, Samsung, Marriott International, Costco—can’t get enough of us. We know it’s not all because of our great business templates, but it can’t hurt! Just goes to show: if you build it, they will come.
Envato is working hard to be an inclusive and diverse company, and this goes not only for our hiring practices and the way we treat our staff, freelancers and creative community but also the materials we provide for download. After all, our customers are a diverse bunch as well. Our data shows that more of them search for Ramadan than Easter, though Halloween and Christmas remain the most popular holidays of all. Visit Envato Elements for your holiday graphics.
And speaking of diversity, at the beginning of 2017, only a third of our tutorials on Envato Tuts+ were written by women and two thirds by men. At the beginning of 2018, it was almost 50-50, and now women form a slight majority of the tutorial instructors at Tuts+. See what you can learn today.
It’s a big old world out there, and smart website owners are providing their content in languages other than English. Almost 30% of Envato Tuts+ traffic now comes from translated posts, up from just 12% a year ago. And Envato Elements recently launched versions in German, Russian and Latin American Spanish.
